BUYING ART – Seven Points to Consider
1. Don’t Delay
If you see a work of Art that moves you and you have a desire to own it, DO NOT put off your decision to the next day or decide to “sleep on it” – you may miss the opportunity and live to regret it. Every work of Art is unique. If you feel drawn to a specific work, consider this a case of Love at First Sight. Buy it NOW – there have been too many cases of people who have “put it off,” only to discover that someone else has beaten them to the post! One of our clients is still looking for a painting that evokes the same feeling he experienced in an art work he had seen, but failed to buy, 20 years ago!
2. Trust Your Instincts
Listen to your heart! Respect your intuition! Trust in what you see as beautiful. Original art works are just that - original. Even if the work is not by a renowned artist, or does not come recommended by a friend or “expert,” follow your own heart, act on what appeals to you. After all, this is how artists have become known and appreciated, and how collectors have realized appreciation in value -- when people, like you, like them, and buy their art!
In fact, the less well known the artist is when you buy, the more room there is for value to rise. Basha Art Gallery works hard to develop its artists' recognition and value in the marketplace.
By way of comparison, just as there are individuals who became wealthy by purchasing “Microsoft” or “Xerox” stock when it was in its infancy and low cost, so there are collectors today who became wealthy by buying artists they liked who were unknown at the time they bought but who became famous, and valuable, later on.
3. Become Informed
Get to know and understand the kind of Art and Artist that moves you. Speak with our gallery specialists, you will find them patient and willing to help you develop your tastes and knowledge. We believe that an informed buyer is our best customer.
4. Framing
Your painting deserves a quality frame, its "outer garment." The process of choosing a frame also enables YOU to participate in completing the art work to your taste and your instinct and ensures it fits in with the home, d?cor and space you have chosen for it.
5. Professionalism
Always respect one cardinal rule: buy Works of Art only from true professionals, i.e. from galleries and dealers with established credibility in the market. This will ensure that what you are buying is authentic, has value and will be supported by the professionals who sold it to you.
BASHA ART GALLERY of Jerusalem represents artists who are prominent and well known, as well as others who are emerging and who have been selected for their quality and potential.
6. Art as Investment
Art is not only a reflection of changing economic cycles but may also offer financial side-benefits, such as tax deductions, inheritance rights, and so forth. You should consult financial experts for your particular country, to identify the specific ways in which Art can be financially beneficial to you. However, remember - financial considerations should almost always take second place to your main reason for buying – that you have discovered and will enjoy sharing space with the Art works you have chosen.
It is interesting to note how the market economy has often been stimulated through the sale and resale of precious works of Art. Increasingly, in modern times, investors are
